D.A.R.M. is the name of a group of four
German painters founded in 1989 in Düsseldorf. It is also the acronym
made from the initials of their first names: Dag Seemann (*1959 Mannheim),
Arnim Tölke (*1963 Göttingen),
Reinhold Braun (*1961 Karlsruhe),
Matthias Köster (*1961 Detmold).
The four artists met in the early eighties at the Kunstakademie of Düsseldorf
where they studied painting with Markus Lüpertz. In 1988 they graduated
with a Meisterschüler from the Art Academy. From the very start each
artist identified with four different forms of expression:
Dag, with his architectural mind favors forms and proportions
Arnim, represents painting, matter and color
Reinhold, the abstract artist reduces everything to symbols
Matthias, a master in drawing is responsible for the figurative aspect,
the details.
Each has succeeded in his painting career winning grants and holding solo
exhibitions in Germany and throughout Europe. |
