On October 2001 the exhibition IN-PRESSIONE opened in the historical space
of the Officine del Gas di Bovisa in Milan. The exhibition showcased a selection
of works by up - and - coming artists with the intent of examining the interaction
between the memory of industrial sites and the artists 'interpretations
of these sites in an international-cultural context. The show presented
twenty - two young artists who work with different artistic media: painting,
video, photography, installations, sound and light works made up this exhibition
held both in - and outside the gas - pressure room an interesting
industrial archeological site that is also profoundly connected to and integrated
in the territory. Equally fascinating is the venue which hosted the project:
an ideal contemporary gallery made out of red bricks with impressive cisterns
and post - industrial workshops that recall evocative scenes from cult films
like Metropolis and Blade Runner.
