This book richly illustrates the work
of Chema Alvargonzalez, Spanish artist of international acclaim who interprets,
using different media (photography, videos, installations),
urban landscapes and architectonic elements, focusing on their symbolic
and poetic content in relation to the social-cultural context.
This is the first monograph in Italy of the young Spanish artist who has
made a name for herself on the international art scene.
The volume documents the artists most recent work, including a series
of evocative photographs taken in Milan.
Chema Alvargonzalez was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1960. She lives
and works in Berlin and Barcelona. Her works have been shown in international
museums and galleries and are in various private and public collections.
Since 1990 her research has been based on the integration of light installations
in public spaces which has led her to produce works in various cities including:
Barcelona (1997), Berlin (1992, 1998 and 2001), Munich (2000), Potsdam (1993),
Santa Fe (1995) and Santander (1999). |
