The project Credits Stills Video excerpt Artist's info Download brochure		The focus of the work Facing is a documentary by the BBC cameraman Darren Conway, who accompanied British soldiers in the most recent Iraq War as an “embedded” journalist. In it Conway reports on the situation in which his unit found itself and on his personal perceptions of the theater of war. In Facing Johannes Maier confronts the journalist with his documentary. In the glow of the low-contrast images on the monitor Conway comments on his own work, which was several months old at the time he was viewing it. The result is a constellation, as dense as it is complex, between author and film, between current events and memory, between authenticity and dramatization in the media. (Ralf Christofori)
